A collection of photos taken during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part one), which took place on Rannoch Moor on Saturday the 19th of September.

The usual loco (5972 "Olton Hall") made a number of trips between Rannoch and Corrour with the Hogwarts Express branded West Coast Railways mk1 coaches. Once again it was decked out with a super-bright headlight. The train was filmed from both a helicopter and cameras set up by the line on the most remote part of the moor. I trekked over some very rough terrain for (literally) miles to take photos of the filming, only for it to be rained off.

Starting with 66620 on the Aberdeen cement, DB Schenker 37670 on the Northern Belle to Kyle of Lochalsh and Oban, the Royal Scotsman, freight in Tayside and a couple of HSTs...

Including 37676 and 60009 on a railtour to Inverness; diverted sleeper and HSTs via Perth; Scotrail units and a shed called Malcolm; DRS 37s on a Network Rail test train; 66s on ballast and intermodal trains. Also 20302 and 37069 visiting Mallaig on a railtour and newly repainted 37670 on the Northern Belle.

D1015 Western Champion ran a railtour to Kyle of Lochalsh on the weekend of 20th/21st of June 2009.

The tour ran from Bristol to Inverness on Friday the 19th, then to Kyle and back the next day, finally heading back down South on Sunday the 21st. I went chasing but was unlucky with the sun as usual. To avoid repetition, all photos are simply captioned with basic details.

Starting - as is traditional - on the 1st with the Royal Scotsman at Inverkeilor. Also featuring the Royal Train (twice), freight in the Central Belt and the Highlands and the Fort William sleeper.
